Here at New Perspective Senior Living our highest priority is to ensure that each of our residents is treated with dignity and respected as individuals. Learning more about their unique histories, desires and interests, puts us in the best position to provide the care, attention and services that meet their desires and needs.
My wife, Sherry and I began this enterprise with a very simple idea: to create a 'new perspective' on providing a caring environment for our seniors.
Our passion for senior care began when Sherry and I invited her mother, Betty—then in the early stages of Alzheimer's—to live with us. Betty served with distinction in the Women's Army Corps in World War II. She became the sole support of her family, working two jobs and caring for four children, when a car accident left her husband disabled. Years later as a widow living alone with early dementia, she struggled to maintain that strong and independent spirit.
Over the seven years that Betty lived with us, we learned to find personal ways to keep her secure, yet socially involved and feeling like she was home, and not just visiting. We strove to create a family culture that protected her dignity while encouraging her independence, even as her condition advanced.
Ultimately it was Betty’s life and character that helped to frame our Foundational Belief: All seniors deserve attentive, personalized respectful care that enables them to live with purpose and age with dignity.
From Betty we learned five things, which we believe all of our residents really want from us:
